One of my favorite ways to transform old furniture is to add beautiful paper accents. The main reason I love to use wallpaper, tissue paper, wrapping paper or even napkins to decoupage a furniture piece is because it is such an easy and affordable way to add that wow factor. Our secret: Mod Podge! Below we share with you how to decoupage furniture with any paper using Mod Podge.

Step 4: Trim to Perfection. At this point, you may be finished wallpapering your furniture, but if certain edges are hanging off or look uneven, this is a good time to trim off excess with a razor blade or utility blade. Once the edges are looking spick and span, your project is complete!

Using a sharp X-actio knife, make a cut parallel to the side of the door/drawer, as shown below. Bring the bottom edge up, folding the excess flap in 90 degrees onto the next edge (below left). Then, slice down the paper on the corner, just until the blade meets the door (below right).

If the vinyl stretches out, you'll never get the seams/pattern to align properly. So go slow and easy. Give yourself enough excess around the edges. It's much easier to trim the excess than to come up short! Don't remove the paper backing all at once. You'll peel the backing off as you go when applying the wallpaper.

1. Wipe down the piece of furniture using a damp sponge. Get a clean sponge wet and wring out the excess water. Use it to clean off the piece of furniture you want to cover with wallpaper, paying special attention to the surfaces you plan to actually stick wallpaper onto. Wait for the furniture to air dry.

Adding Wallpaper to Furniture:: First, I did a few repairs and cleaned the night stand. Then I primed (just the top) with my fav BIN Shellac before painting with AS Pure White. I did this because I and don't want ANY stains or spots showing through once I top coated. I painted 2 coats of Annie Sloan's Pure White on the entire piece minus.

Remove any hardware on the drawers. Measure the drawer fronts and cut out pieces slightly larger than the drawer fronts. I cut pieces that were about 8" x 24" to give me 1/2" overhang on each side. Place the wallpaper on the dresser front and get it centered. Peel the backing away from one edge, smoothing as you go.
